Michelin Introduces New X Mine™ D2 Sizes
for Underground Mining Industry
4 May 2003

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Michelin has extended its innovative X MINEä D2 tire line by releasing three new sizes designed specifically for the underground mining industry. Outstanding test results for the 14.00R20, 400/80R15 and 350/65R15 X MINE D2 show they offer the lowest cost per hour for underground mining operations.

This distinct Michelin® X MINE D2 radial tire can be run with filling material and provides excellent protection against punctures and cuts in the harshest conditions. The tire features tread depths ranging from 33 mm to 48 mm. Massive buttressed shoulders and sidewalls of the X MINE D2 tire are keys to the superior damage resistance the tire provides for loaders, underground scoops, haulers and other heavy equipment working in underground mining applications.

By reducing punctures and flats, the X Mine D2 tire reduces tire costs, while also delivering more machine uptime to help increase productivity for underground mining operations. Multiple steel belts and cut-resistant rubber compounds provide excellent casing and sidewall protection for lower cost per hour through longer tire life. The Michelin radial design offers superior ride and comfort and protects the machine by absorbing shocks and jolts, while providing excellent reparability.

The new sizes for the X MINE D2 tire for the underground mining industry are 400/80R15 (38x16R15) with 33 mm original tread depth, 350/65R15 (32x14.5R15) with 36 mm original tread depth, and 14.00R20 with 48 mm original tread depth.
