| TORONTO – The Michelin Earthmover Group has developed a tire for high-speed, long-haul mining applications. The X® Traction E3 tire has replaced the Michelin 27.00R49 XRB™ tire for use on haul trucks.
“This tire is able to run at high speeds for long periods of time,” said Kaan Demirel, mining market segment manager for Michelin North America, Inc. “This is especially important as mine sites look for ways to make the machines on their sites more productive.”
The tread on the X Traction tire is 11 percent deeper than the tread on the Michelin XRB radial Combined with a non-directional tread pattern, this is ideal for speed on long, well-maintained haul roads where trucks also need traction in and out of the pits. The tire is available in 27.00R49. Multiple steel belts and cut-resistant rubber compounds help provide excellent casing and sidewall protection for low cost per hour through long tire life. The Michelin radial design offers exceptional ride and comfort and protects the machine by absorbing shocks and jolts, while helping to provide excellent reparability.
